The Passion begins with a kiss. Tragic paradox, as never before has a kiss had anything to do with betrayal!
That kiss is the first true injury of the Passion, a wound that will remain printed neither on Veronica's linen, nor on the shroud in which his body will be wrapped for three days in the sepulchre, before the final glorification. Still, that kiss is the deepest wound that violated Jesus.
A matter of seconds, a kiss: none of the disciples probably realized what it would have meant. Roused suddenly, their eyes, like ours, were too dark and bleary to understand.
